Coming soon to Colorado's Western Slope
We match older pet owners with a vetted Guardian who promises to adopt their dog or cat when the time comes, and who gets to know them both long before it does.
Rather talk it through? Call us at (970) 325-3223. A real person answers.
Almost every pet owner asks it eventually. Family may not be able to take them, may live far away, or may not be the right fit. A shelter isn't a plan. Promised Home gives you a real answer, and a real person, while you're here to choose.
How it works
Here's how it will work when we launch.
Tell us about you and your pet, online or on the phone with a real person.
Food, vet, routines, fears, favorite spot to be scratched. Everything the next person needs to know.
We introduce vetted Guardians near you. Visit, call, get to know them. You choose. Nobody is assigned.
You both sign a Promise Agreement. We'll point you to attorneys who can help you name your Guardian in your will or a pet trust.
A trusted contact lets us know. We bring your pet to their Guardian within a day or two, Life Book in hand.
"When the time comes" means a passing, but also a move into assisted living or care. If you move, your Guardian can keep sending photos and bring your pet to visit.
You've taken care of them their whole life. This is how you keep doing it.
Signing up for a parent or loved one? Start here too. We'll talk with both of you.
Make a promise to someone who's worried about the one they love most. Then keep it.
Can't commit long-term? Short-term Bridge Fosters help in emergencies.
Safety first
Older adults are targets for fraud. We designed every step with that in mind, and we'll walk any family member through how it works.
ID-verified and background-checked before they can see or message anyone.
No browsing Members. Every introduction is approved by our team.
Guardians can never receive money, property, or inheritance from a Member. It's in the agreement.
Trusted contacts can see the relationship, and first visits happen with them or a coordinator present.
Backup Guardian, then a Bridge Foster, then a partner rescue. Never a high-kill shelter.
One tap on every screen, or one phone call, reaches a real person.
Now starting
We're building Promised Home on the Western Slope first, then growing across Colorado and beyond. Join the founding list and we'll reach out personally as we get closer to launch.
Every pet has a Backup Guardian. If neither can step in that week, a local Bridge Foster cares for your pet until they can. Our last resort is a partner rescue, never a high-kill shelter.
No. Guardians can never receive money, property, or inheritance from a Member. That rule is written into every Promise Agreement.
Your Promise covers that too. Your pet goes to their Guardian, and your Guardian can keep sending photos and bring them to visit.
We check in every year to make sure the plan still works for both of you. If something changes, you choose a new Guardian while there's plenty of time.
We're starting with dogs and cats.
Not yet. Promised Home is being formed as a Colorado nonprofit. We aren't accepting donations or enrolling Members until that's complete. We'll share our status here once it's official.
